The Orenstein & Koppel MPF-12 container ship was built in a series of eleven units.

details

The design of the MPF-12 ships was based on experience with the successful Trampko multi-purpose freighters and the container ship designs that had been designed at the Orenstein & Koppel shipyard in Lübeck since 1968 . The series was built in the years 1972 to 1976 for several German shipping companies in various designs as semi-container ships and full container ships with a far aft deckhouse. Depending on the variant, the capacity was up to 700 TEU. The first ships in the series have two cantilever booms and a swing boom at the front edge of the superstructure, in some later units ship cranes replaced the cantilever booms and in the most recently built full container versions, the loading gear was completely dispensed with . The last two units, Sovereign Express and Sovereign Accord, were 15 meters longer and had a longer forecastle. Mainly all units of the type were used in container transport.

The ships are powered by an 18-cylinder OEW-Pielstick 18 PC 2-3 V four-stroke diesel engine. Continue to auxiliary diesel and an emergency diesel-generator. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
