Orestes Vilató

Orestes Vilató (* 1944 in Camagüey , Cuba ) is a timbalero and bongosero . At the age of twelve, he moved with his family to New York , as his father had been given responsibility for the Havana-New York and Havana-Chicago flights on the Cubana de Aviación line . He played with numerous greats on the Latin scene, including Ray Barretto , before founding his own band Los Kimbos . Later, his collaboration with Israel "Cachao" López and that with Carlos Santana , with whom he also played the flute and supported the vocals, should be emphasized .
