The organ of the Nikolaikirche Luckau is one of the most important historical organs in Brandenburg . It was built by Christoph Donat in 1673 and reconstructed and restored by Schuke Orgelbau from 1959 to 1977 . Today it has 43 stops on three manuals and a pedal . The sun, moon, trumpet angel and King David figure are movable.

Donat organ from 1673

The previous organ from 1618 with 22 voices was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . During the reconstruction of the church from 1672 to 1673 a new organ was created by the Saxon organ builder Christoph Donati . This combined north and south German style elements and had 37 registers on three manuals. It was inaugurated on January 6, 1674. Some defects soon became apparent, including in the windchest and the bellows. In 1677 Donati carried out repairs.

In 1873 Friedrich Hermann Lütkemüller carried out extensive alterations in the romantic-symphonic style. The Rückpositiv was removed.

Schuke reconstruction and restoration 1959–1977

From 1959 the company Schuke Orgelbau from Potsdam tried to reconstruct the Donat organ. This practically resulted in a new instrument in the historical prospectus with preserved parts of the baroque organ. The reconstruction was committed to the neo-baroque sound. Repair work was carried out in 2012.
