Organ workshop in Maribor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Maribor Organ Building Workshop is a company based on the pre-war tradition of building organs in Maribor in Hoče , south of Maribor in Slovenia .

founding

With the death of the well-known organ builder Josef Brandl in 1938, a long tradition of organ building in Marburg was interrupted, the most important representatives of which were Simon Otoničer (Ottonitscher), Joseph Otonič (Ottonitsch), Joseph Salb, Leonhard Ebner and Michael Krainz. After the Second World War , there were only organ builders in Slovenia who specialized in the construction of pneumatic organs (Jenko Organ Builders in Ljubljana-Šentvid ). In order to enable the construction of new mechanical organs and the restoration of old instruments in Slovenia, the diocesan organ workshop was finally founded in 1989 on the initiative of the then diocese of Maribor . In the years that followed, other Slovenian organ builders emerged from this group (Škrabl, Kolar, Močnik).

Today's company

In 2005 the workshop was incorporated into the Gospodarstvo Rast doo company under the German name of Orgelbauwerkstätte Maribor . Since May 2011 it has been part of the Slomškova družba doo company. Over the past 20 years, over 100 organs have been built and over 50 have been restored. The activity extends beyond Slovenia to Croatia, Macedonia, Italy and Austria.
