Orji Uzor Kalu

Orji Uzor Kalu (* 21st April 1960 in Aba ) is a Nigerian Nian politicians. He was Governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2007 .

Kalu attended Christ the King School and Eziama High School in Aba and Government College in Umuahia . He studied at the University of Maiduguri , Harvard University, and Abia State University . Prior to his election as governor Kalu chairman was a firm operating in several West African countries group, inter alia, the airline company Slok Air (later Slok Air Gambia ) and the daily newspaper The Sun belonged.

From 1992 to 1993 Kalu was a member of the House of Representatives. As a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), he was governor of the state of Abia from May 29, 1999 to May 29, 2007 .

In the 2007 presidential elections , he ran for the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and received 1.73% of all votes. After his candidacy was announced in October 2006, the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) began investigating Kalu's mother and 18 other relatives and government officials; charges include money laundering , theft , embezzlement and fraud .
