The Orka-1200 is a helicopter drone for sea reconnaissance. It can be used civilly for the monitoring of sea ​​trade , coastal protection and the prevention of illegal dumping , as well as militarily for electronic warfare ( EloKa ) and anti -submarine combat.

It is a joint development by EADS Defense & Security and Hélicoptères Guimbal and is based on their Cabri G2 small helicopter . The UAV ( U nmanned A erial V ehicle) takes off and lands vertically. It can take off from the decks of small ships even in rough seas.

The drone is equipped with a maritime surveillance radar . The equipment with a video and a thermal imaging camera is planned. In addition to the purposes listed above, the drone can also be used in conjunction with attack helicopters, whereby the drone flies ahead of the helicopter and identifies possible threats. This concept is still under development.

The aircraft was first presented at the Paris Air Show 2003.
