Orseolo
Orseolo , derived from Orso (bear), is the name of a tribunician Venetian patrician family . Family members include Doges of Venice and bishops.
The Orseolo were among the most powerful and influential families in the early days of the Republic of Venice, which were marked by power struggles . Together with the Candiano and Participazio , it was the Orseolo family who provided most of Venice's doges from 810 to the constitutional reform of 1172.
