Orthokeratosis

The term Ortho keratose ( old Gr . Ορθός , ortho - correct, straight and κέρας , kéras - horn) is used for a physiological, d. H. normal cornification (keratinization) of a squamous epithelium is used. This leads to a multi-stage transformation of living, nucleated epithelial cells into dead, nucleated corneocytes that contain horn material ( keratin ).
