The chapel was built to a design by the nearby sculptor Hans Brandstetter . It was designed in the Gothic style. On the altar there is a Pietà made by Brandstetter . The chapel also has a bell and, since 1984, an electric bell .

history

Before the chapel was built, there was a wayside shrine with images of the Mother of God and the two saints Florian and Leonhard . In 1898, the sculptor Hans Brandstetter presented the design for a chapel. The Berndorfer population donated money and also helped with the construction of the chapel. A piece of community forest was also sold to finance the construction. The consecration took place in 1903. The chapel bell had to be delivered during the First World War , but it was replaced after the end of the war.

In 1965 the local chapel was renovated and the Way of the Cross was restored. In 1984 both the outside and the inside were renovated and an electric bell was installed. After the renovation work, the chapel was officially re- consecrated as a mess chapel . Further restoration work on the outside and inside took place in 2012.
