The local chapel in Edenbergen

The local chapel in Edenbergen in the Augsburg ( Bavaria ) district was built in 1850 and is a listed building .

location

The chapel is located in the center of Edenbergen at the intersection of four streets: Lindenbergstraße , Am Forsthaus , Am Sonnenhang and Forststraße (starting in the north and following clockwise). Opposite to the west is the fire station of the volunteer fire brigade Edenbergen.

The local war memorial is located right next to the chapel . There were originally three large linden trees around the chapel and monument, which were planted at the same time the chapel was built. For safety reasons, one of the trees had to be felled in 2006.

architecture

The chapel is designed as a rectangular building with a gable roof and surrounding cornice . The roof is covered with red clay tiles. The sanctuary is open to the south and closed by a light blue painted wooden door with two barred arched windows . The building was erected in 1850; in the same year the originally three surrounding linden trees were also planted.

War memorial

The war memorial was originally built in 1921 next to the chapel and in the First World War fallen dedicated to the community. In 1953, the memorial plaque on the memorial was expanded to include the war dead from World War II . The names of 25 fallen soldiers from both world wars are inscribed on the memorial.
