Ortsweiler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ortsweiler is a submerged settlement in today's city of Bexbach in the Saar-Palatinate district .

history

Ortsweiler was a settlement in the northwest of the old Niederbexbacher Bann . The name probably goes back to the nobleman Ortwin von Beckensbach , who owned landlords in this area in the 13th century. The name could therefore be interpreted as the “ hamlet of Ortwin”. In the area of the settlement there was a medieval castle complex, which served the noble servants of Beckensbach as the headquarters. The settlement probably went under in the 14th century. In Tilemann Stella it is 1564 no longer mentioned.

The winning name "Bey Ortsweiler" and the "Ortsweilerhof", an emigrant farm belonging to the Schleppi family from Niederbexbach, are still reminiscent of the settlement today.
