Slavyanka ( Bulgarian Славянка , " Slavic woman") or Orvilos ( Greek Όρβηλος ), is a mountain range on the border between Bulgaria and Greece .

The in Turkish as Alibotuş and Bulgarian as Kitka Planina known (Китка планина) mountain range extends south of the Pirin Mountain and the latter by the Parilska saddle connected. The highest point is Gotsev Vrah at 2212  m . Other significant peaks are the Golyam Tsarev Vrah ( 2186  m ), Malak Tsarev Vrah ( 2087  m ), Shabran ( 2196  m ) and Salyuva Dzhamiya ( 2027  m ).

The massif is a plateau with steep slopes. There are at least 30 caves in the pronounced karst landscape . The climate is strongly Mediterranean with the highest rainfall in autumn and winter. The average temperature in the lower regions is 14 ° C and 6 ° C in the summit regions; they are higher than in comparable mountains in the region.

Slavyanka has a rich vegetation with more than 1700 vascular plants . Of these, 20 species are endemic , five more are only found here in Bulgaria. The lower regions are rich in black pines . Above 1800 m above sea level, the snakeskin pine , which is the largest in the Balkans in Slavyanka, thrives . The fauna includes animals that are typical of the Balkans, such as red deer , wild boar , hare , fox and badger , as well as characteristic Mediterranean animals such as jackal , European cat snake , several species of turtles, lizards and others. 44 species of snail were counted.
