Oscar Ho

Oscar Ho (* 1956 ) is a Chinese curator , museum director and university professor .

life and work

Oscar Hing Kay Ho studied art in Canada and the USA . He returned to Hong Kong in the 1980s. Ho was guest curator at the 2nd and 3rd Asian Pacific Triennials in the late 1980s , curator for the Asian participation of Container 96 in Copenhagen in 1996 and guest curator for the Halifax Art Festival in Canada in 1999 .

From 1998 to 2001 he was artistic director of the Hong Kong Arts Center and later worked in cultural policy . From 2004 Oscar Ho was involved in founding the Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai and was its first director until 2006.

Oscar Ho is the founder of the Hong Kong section of the Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art and was a member of the dOCUMENTA search committee (13) .

Currently, Ho is the director of the Postgraduate Studies Department at Hong Kong China University and a freelance curator.
