Osgoode is an underground subway station in Toronto . It lies on the Yonge-University line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of University Avenue and Queen Street . It is named after the nearby Osgoode Hall . The station has side platforms and is used by an average of 22,490 passengers every day (2015). In addition to Osgoode Hall, the Four Seasons Center , City Hall , Nathan Phillips Square and the South African War Memorial are also nearby . There are transfer options to two bus lines and to tram lines 501 and 502.

The station opened on February 28, 1963, along with the Union - St. George section . However, it did not reach its full market value until three years later with the opening of the Bloor-Danforth Line crossing in St. George . In the first few years, the capacity utilization was lower than originally forecast. For this reason, operations were restricted, especially on weekends; it has only been continuous on the entire route since 1978.

Osgoode should originally have been a transfer station. A tram tunnel was planned under Queen Street, so that a second level in the shell was completed when the Queen station was built. Something similar was planned in Osgoode, but this was limited to relocating a few supply lines. No further expansion was carried out because the Toronto Transit Commission kept putting the tunnel back on hold for financial reasons and finally gave it up completely.
