The Oshkosh Corporation , formerly Oshkosh Truck Corporation , is a US commercial vehicle manufacturer founded in 1917 with headquarters in Oshkosh , Wisconsin . The company specializes in the construction of military - trucks , airport fire vehicles , special vehicles, concrete mixers and lifting vehicles.

history

The company was founded in 1917 as a manufacturer of all-wheel drive commercial vehicles under the name Wisconsin Duplex Auto Company . The first vehicle called "Old Betsy" is still fully roadworthy and owned by the company. The company changed its name to Oshkosh Motor Truck Manufacturing Company in 1918 when it moved to the town of the same name. 1930 changed the company name again, this time in Oshkosh Motor Truck Company, Inc . During the Second World War , the company switched to war production and began manufacturing military vehicles.

In 2006, Oshkosh acquired the US manufacturer of lifts JLG Industries (McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania) for $ 3 billion.

Locations and markets

The company's headquarters are still in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The company also has production facilities in eleven countries and sales companies in 16 countries. The products are exported to 130 countries and customers are supported by a worldwide service network.
