Osiedle is the term for settlement or residential area in Poland and as such is also used in many place names. This designation was often used for prefabricated building districts from the post-war period (Osiedle mieszkaniowe). Between 1954 and 1972 the term Osiedle was an official administrative unit in the city structure.
