history

Prior to today Lindenmühle a picturesque group of buildings was located at this location with a mill building with half-timbered floor and half-hipped roof . The facility, which can be reached via the Lindesmühl promenade, was a popular excursion destination.

The Lindesmühle (former art mill) was built in the historicist style in 1886 . In its present form it is a multi-part, castle-like group of buildings. It consists of a five-story building with a crenellated tower, a southern two-storey saddle roof extension and a northern two-storey wing extension with a saddle roof and stepped gable. All parts of the building are red sandstone blocks with gray sandstone structures. Four grinding cycles and ten roller mills produced an output of 1,800 quintals per week.

On April 19, 1898, the Lindesmühle was destroyed by what was perhaps the biggest fire in Bad Kissingen. The Austrian Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary , who was currently staying in the Villa Monbijou on Bad Kissingen Altenberg , was probably watching the events surrounding the fire.

In 1899 the Lindesmühle was rebuilt by the Bad Kissingen architect Carl Kramp . The output of the mill was now between 800 and 1,000 quintals per day.

Since 1961, the facility was used as a building yard, which was later moved to the Bad Kissingen-Süd industrial park, where the planning of a new building yard had started in 2002.

The Lindesmühle was renovated in 2016/17. The Bayerische Landesstiftung München contributed 50,000 euros to the total cost of the measure of 400,000 euros.
