Oskar Hekš (born April 10, 1908 in Rožďalovice ; † died March 8, 1944 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a Czechoslovak marathon runner .

In 1928 Oskar Hekš ran his first marathon in Košice and won his first marathon in 1930 with a time of 2: 48: 31.0 hours.

In 1932 Hekš, who started for the Prague club ŽSK Hagibor , took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in the marathon and finished eighth with a time of 2:41:35 hours. He was of Jewish origin and refused to take part in the following games in Berlin in 1936 . He took part in the organization of the People's Olympiad in Barcelona , which was intended as an alternative to the Berlin event. It was supposed to take place from July 19-26, 1936, but the Spanish Civil War broke out on the opening day .

After Czechoslovakia was occupied by the Wehrmacht in 1939 , Hekš was arrested and deported to Theresienstadt on November 24, 1941 with one of the first transports (Transport Ak, No. 54) , and then on September 6, 1943 with Transport Dm, No. 2932 transported to Auschwitz , where he was murdered in a gas chamber in 1944 .
