Oskar Steigerwald

Oskar Steigerwald (born August 1, 1871 in Regenhütte , † June 29, 1902 in Pasing ) was a German glass manufacturer .

Life

Oskar Steigerwald studied at the Technical University in Berlin-Charlottenburg engineering and joined in the summer semester 1890 the Corps Saxonia-Berlin. After completing his studies, he was the last direct descendant to join the management of the Regenhütte glassworks founded by his grandfather Wilhelm Steigerwald . In 1895 he took over the Ludwigsthal glassworks on a lease. In 1901 he combined the Regenhütte and the Ludwigsthal glassworks with the Schliersee glassworks to form the United Bavarian Crystal Glass Factory , based in Munich.

After a fatal hunting accident in 1902, his widow Marianne von Streber-Steigerwald continued the company until 1950, which was renamed Bayerische Kristallfabriken in 1905 . Steigerwald AG accepted and operated as the Steigerwald crystal glass factory after the First World War .
