history

In 1750, Felix Martin Ki (e) sling, owner of the Rabenstein glassworks estate , built a new glassworks here, which was initially called Neuhütte . It was leased to the Fischer mirror glass factory in Erlangen .

Regenhütte had 124 inhabitants and 17 buildings around 1850. The first emergency school building was built in 1851, followed by the actual school building in 1868. On March 30, 1859, the lease with Fischer came to an end and the hut stood empty. The still existing glassworks was built by Wilhelm Steigerwald from 1863 and started operations in 1865. The glassworks burned down in 1871 and 1873, but was rebuilt each time.

On August 19, 1866 Regenhütte came to the newly formed community Rabenstein. A new school house was built in 1906. At that time, Regenhütte had 560 residents. In 1925 a reservoir was built with a new power station for the factory. In the same year the war memorial was inaugurated.

In church terms, Regenhütte belongs to the parish of Ludwigsthal . In 1959 a makeshift church in Grubweg, which was no longer needed and therefore dismantled, was acquired, built in Regenhütte and inaugurated on January 10, 1960.

The elementary school in Regenhütte was closed at the end of the 1970 school year. In the course of the municipal reform , Rabenstein came to the city of Zwiesel on January 1, 1978 , while the Regenhütte district became part of the municipality of Bayerisch Eisenstein.

In 1986 the Regenhütte glass factory went bankrupt. On July 26, 2003 the opening of the new village pond was celebrated. The glassworks was completely closed in 2011. The roof structure is slowly falling in.

The makeshift church had to be closed after the snow disaster in 2006 due to the acute danger of collapse and later demolished. On October 2nd, 2008 the foundation stone for the new branch church Holy Family was laid. On July 21, 2009, Bishop Wilhelm Schraml consecrated the new church. It has 70 seats and the construction costs amounted to 312,000 euros.
