The Oskar Ursinus Association ( German Association for the Promotion of Self- Made Aviation Equipment eV ; OUV), named after the "Rhönvater" Oskar Ursinus , is a registered association in Germany for the promotion of self-made aircraft based in Bingen in the district of Sigmaringen .

history

The association was founded in 1968 and currently has around 1000 members. The aim of the association is to support members in the realization of aircraft self-construction projects. Experienced experts and fly-in pilots are available to members as project applicants. The motto of the association is "Dream - Build - Fly" .

Replicas of historical aircraft, kit airplanes and in-house constructions are considered to be self-made. As of January 2012, more than 500 self-construction projects have been registered, of which over 50% are already in flight tests.

The OUV is divided into a general assembly, executive committee and project committee and has its own aeronautical operations as well as a noise measuring point. Jens Gralfs has been president of the association since 2010.

Every year in the middle of March, the two-day winter meeting takes place, at which speakers give presentations on a wide variety of topics in aircraft construction. Until 2011 this conference traditionally took place in Darmstadt , since March 2012 it has been held in the Technikmuseum Speyer .

The summer meeting is traditionally organized as a "fly-in", which means that members meet with the self-built aircraft that are approved as individual pieces. The 2011 and 2012 summer meetings took place at Offenburg airfield, and Bad Dürkheim airfield has been the location of the event since 2013 .

In other European countries there are clubs with similar goals, such as the Igo-Etrich-Club in Austria.
