Osman Chavez (born July 29, 1984 in Santa Fe , Honduras ) is a Honduran football player .

Career

Osman Chavez, 2011

Chavez, nicknamed El Tierno , began his professional career in the Honduran league at CD Platense , where the central defender quickly became a regular. From 2007 to 2008 he was loaned to the Honduran club CD Motagua before returning to his hometown club.

Because of his achievements, he was called to the Honduran national team, where he made his international debut on February 12, 2006 in the game against the People's Republic of China. With the national team, Chavez managed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he was used in all three national team games.

In order to continue his career abroad, Chavez dissolved his contract with Platense. After he could not find a new club and had no match practice for several months, he was signed again by his previous club and then appointed to the national team's World Cup squad. At the World Cup, Honduras failed in the preliminary round, with Osman Chávez in all three games.

In the summer of 2010 he moved to the Polish top club Wisła Krakau on loan for a year and was one of the top performers. After a year, Wisła Krakow signed him and paid the equivalent of around 210,000 euros . In the second half of the 2011/12 season, however, Chavez was largely out of the game due to knee surgery.

In 2014, Chavez moved to the Chinese second division club Qingdao Zhongneng on loan . Also for the 2014 World Cup , he was appointed by coach Luis Fernando Suárez in the squad of the selection of Honduras.
