from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The East-West Pipeline ( Arabic خط أنابيب النفط الخام بين الشرق والغرب, DMG Ḫaṭṭ Anābīb an-Nafṭ al-Ḫām baina š-Šarq wa-l-Ġarb ) is an oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia that runs from the Abqaiq oil field in the east of the country through the Arabian Peninsula to the Yanbu port in the west. It is 1200 km long, has a diameter of 120 cm and was opened in 2012.

It was built to move oil from the major oil fields in eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea . This will bypass the Strait of Hormuz and avoid possible Iranian threats.
