Ostdorf (Dornum)

Since November 1, 2001, Ostdorf has belonged to the Westdorf district of the Dornum municipality in the Aurich district in Lower Saxony . It is about one kilometer east of Westdorf and 3.5 kilometers west of Nesse. The settlement of the terp of Ostdorf began already during the Roman Empire . The place was first referred to as Asthatorp in 1437 . Later name variants are Osterdorpe (1499), Oesterdorp (1552), Osdorp (1589) and Ostdorff . In 1848 there were 115 residents in Ostdorf, spread over 24 residential buildings.
