Osterhofen is a residential area in the Haisterkirch district of Bad Waldsee .

location

Osterhofen is located northeast of Hittelkofen between the Haisterbach and the Haisterkircher ridge on the northeastern border of the Bad Waldsee area, in a landscape that was shaped by the Ice Age.

Transport links

The traffic connection for motor vehicles is via the district roads 7931 and 7933, which intersect in the town center, and a communal route to Graben.

Furthermore, a wide cycle path leads via Hittelkofen to Haisterkirch am Haisterbach.

The Danube Bodensee cycle path leads through the town center.

The Main-Danube-Bodensee-Weg (HW4) leads in one section at the Haisterkircher ridge, only a few hundred meters past Osterhofen.

history

  • 1257 First documented mention under the name Osterhouen
  • 1771 desertification
  • 1762 Construction of the Lady Chapel

Furthermore, the court building, prison and place of execution of the County of Bad Waldsee were in Osterhofen.

Waters

The Osterhofener Ach is a small stream which has its 2 sources in the Vorderer Berg / Haisterkircher ridge area. The two streams then join in the upper part of the village near the sandy path to the Osterhofener Ach. Two small lakes are fed by the brook before it was moved under the street in the Mahlgasse area and so on under Eggmannsriederstraße and Mühlhauserstraße until it finally flows into the Haisterbach at the end of the village.

Chapel, Virgin Mary Sacrifice

Around 1762 the chapel was commissioned by the Marian brotherhoods, the "old" from 1702 and the "new" from 1718.

2009: Installation of an electric bell, which was financed by private donations.

At the moment the chapel cannot be used due to the poor condition of the electrics and the roof structure. The parish already donated € 15,000 for the renovation in spring 2017.

The Sacrifice of the Virgin Mary is one of the largest chapels in the region.
