Other mentions of Haisterkich come from the 10th century under Heistinkirchen, Heistinikirche, in 1275 the name Haisterskilch was mentioned. In 1331 the place came with the rule of Waldsee to Austria, until it was pledged to the Truchsessen von Waldburg in 1386. Haisterkirch came under the Württemberg sovereignty with the Oberamt Bad Waldsee in 1806, and the community Haisterkirch was formed immediately in 1820, which was linked to the Ravensburg district in 1820.

Former monastery

The former monastery, opposite the church, in which the school and local administration are located, was built in 1736 as the summer residence of the Premonstratensian imperial abbey for Rot an der Rot .

Sankt Johannes Baptist Parish and Pilgrimage Church Haisterkirch

In 926 the original church was destroyed by the Hungarian invasion .

Approx. In 1000 the church Basilica Popularis (Leutekirche) was built in the same place and around 1350/1400 another bell was hung in the 10 m high bell tower, while the fourth bell was not purchased until 1463.

The name St. Johann Baptist was first mentioned in 1323.

The fifth bell was added in 1995 during the renovation of the bell tower.

The Wendelinus Chapel is located shortly after leaving the village on the district road towards Hittisweiler.

Pilgrimage Chapel of St. Sebastian

The first mention of a chapel is around 1500; It was rebuilt in 1741 after a fire. In 1884 the chapel was rebuilt and only eight years later the current chapel (the fourth chapel on this site) was built in 1892 because the old one was too small for the many pilgrims.

From the town center, a station path leads up the Haisterkircher ridge to the chapel, which is located on the highest point of Haisterkirch and thus also the town of Bad Waldsee.

The chapel was named after St. Sebastian , one of the fourteen helpers in need.
