The Osthofentor is a city gate of the Hanseatic city of Soest am Hellweg , rebuilt between 1594 and 1603. The sandstone building is the last of the eight main and two side gates that have been preserved.

In 1534 the gate was the place of execution for ten Anabaptists , presumably missionaries of the Münster Anabaptist Empire .

In 1965 it was shown in the German Federal Post Office's stamp series Deutsche Bauwerke aus Twelve Centuries .

The city history museum was set up in the Osthofentor from 1978 to 1982 . It has a collection of 25,000 medieval crossbow bolts . This is the old military treasure of the city of Soest, which was housed in the tower of St. Patrokli until the beginning of the 19th century , which did not belong to the church but to the city and also served as an armory.

The Osthofentor can also be found en miniture alongside other outstanding German architectural monuments in Mini-Europe in Brussels.
