Anthony "Tony" Vidmar (born July 4, 1970 in Adelaide ) is a former Australian professional footballer of Slovene - Italian descent. He played mainly in the left-back position. His brother Aurelio Vidmar was also a well-known football player.

Vidmar played with Adelaide City from 1975 to 1995 with the exception of a brief hiatus . In 1995 he decided to go to Europe and moved to NAC Breda in the Dutch honor division . From 1997 he moved to English-speaking countries and played for several years for Scottish and English clubs. After another stint at Breda in 2005/06, he returned to Australia. In 2008 he ended his career with the Central Coast Mariners .

His career in Australian national teams began in 1991 in the Australian U-23. A year later he was a member of the Australian Olympic selection , which finished fourth at the 1992 Olympic Games . Overall, Vidmar played 76 senior international matches for the Australian national football team between 1991 and 2006 , scoring three goals. His greatest success during this time was arguably third place with Australia in the 2001 Confederations Cup .

Immediately after his active career, he took an assistant coaching position at Adelaide United . In 2009 he then moved to the South Australian Sports Institute as a youth coach .
