The Ostkrankenhaus Augsburg was a hospital in the Augsburg district of Lechhausen .

history

The Ostkrankenhaus was established in 1941 during the Second World War for the treatment of patients with infectious diseases in the building of the previous Schiller School in Lechhausen, which dates from 1908. After the end of the war, the range of treatments was expanded to include rehabilitation and treatment of patients requiring ventilation . On January 1, 1971, the Ostkrankenhaus was part of the III. Medical clinic assigned to the newly founded hospital association Augsburg .

As early as July 1958, the Augsburg city council had drafted the plan to build a new central hospital, which was opened in April 1982 after a long planning and construction phase. As a result, all departments of the East Hospital (as well as the West Hospital ) moved to the new Central Clinic, the hospital was closed in November 1982. The hospital last had 91 beds.

Todays use

The building of the former East Hospital is used today by the Caritas Augsburg Betriebsträger (CAB) gGmbH for the senior citizens' home "Sankt Anna und Wolfhard" with an attached service center.
