East point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The east point , or morning point , is the point on the horizon that is 90 ° away from both intersection points of the meridian and the horizon and at which the sun rises during the equinox . It thus forms the eastern intersection of the horizon with the celestial equator . The angle between the east point and the rising point of the sun, as seen by the observer, is called the morning distance . At the time of the equinox this angle is 0 °.

The opposite point is the west point , also called the evening point .
