West point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As West Point , or evening point , the point of the will horizon referred to by both the intersections of the meridian is removed with the horizon 90 degrees and the sun during the equinox sets. It thus forms the western intersection of the horizon with the celestial equator . The angle between the west point and the setting point of the sun, as seen by the observer, is called the evening distance . At the time of the equinox this angle is 0 °.

The opposite point is the east point , also called the morning point .
