Osvaldo Dragun
Osvaldo Dragún (* 7. May 1929 in Colonia Berro the province of Entre Ríos ; † 14. June 1999 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine playwright .
Life
Initially, Dragún studied law in Buenos Aires, but dropped out to devote himself entirely to the theater . From 1961 to 1963 he was director of the Havana Dramatic Seminar , later initiating and driving the theater movement Teatro Abierto, and finally headed the Taller Internacional de Teatro de América Latina y el Caribe in Cuba . He has written numerous scripts for Argentine and Spanish television, his plays are widespread in the American-speaking area as well as in Europe and Russia.
A well-known piece by Dragún is La Historia del hombre que se convirtió en perro about a man who applies for a position as a watchdog and then actually becomes one in literature, an absurd parable about the ridiculous importance society attaches to a person's job.
