Otiorhynchus armadillo is a beetle from the family of the weevils (Curculionidae).

features

The 7–12 mm long black weevils are covered with brownish scales. You have a stocky figure. The short trunk has a central keel. The pronotum is densely grained. The pits of the elytra stripes are very hairy yellow.

distribution

The distribution area of Otiorhynchus armadillo extends over Central Europe. It ranges from Great Britain in the northwest to the northern Balkans . The species is absent in Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula .

Way of life

The beetles can be seen from May to September. You can find them on different bushes. They are particularly common on alders ( Alnus ). The polyphagous beetles are mainly active at night.
