Oto Matický

Oto Matický (born June 30, 1963 in Bratislava ) is a former Slovak - Austrian basketball player .

career

Matický played in Czechoslovakia for Slavia SVŠT Bratislava (1983/84), RH Pardubice (1984–1986) and Inter Bratislava (1986–1990). In 1987, 1988 and 1989 he was Czechoslovak basketball player of the year.

In 1990 the 2.07-meter-tall indoor player moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club UKJ Möllersdorf (later renamed Arkadia Traiskirchen) and became a formative figure in the Lower Austrian team. In 1991, 1994 and 2000 he won the Austrian championship, in 1997, 2000 and 2001 also the national cup competition. In 1992, 1995 and 1996 Matický, who took on Austrian citizenship in the course of his career, was runner-up.

In 2003 he left Traiskirchen and returned to Inter Bratislava, where he played until 2005. After the end of his career, Matický worked temporarily as a manager and trainer for Inter.

National team

Matický was first a national player for Czechoslovakia, then Slovakia.

Private

His daughter Nicole Matická also became a basketball player, played international matches for the Slovak national junior team, studied and played at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the United States before moving to the German Bundesliga in Oberhausen.
