Otome game

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An otome game ( Japanese 乙 女 ゲ ー ム , otome gēmu , literally "girl's game" or in German sometimes otome game ) is a computer game that is aimed at young women and girls and whose aim is to establish a romantic relationship between the game the female protagonist and one or more male characters. It is a sub-genre of the Japanese Ren'ai games (romance games) and is mostly implemented as a Ren'ai adventure (outside of Japan often referred to as a visual novel ) or as a Ren'ai simulation (dating sim). To be differentiated, but partly also included, Boys Love Games are also for a female target group, but with a male protagonist who romantically advertises male characters as well.

The game Angelique von Koei , published in 1994, is considered the founder of the genre , which was developed as an alternative to the predominant Bishōjo Games / Gal Games for the male target group. Other important series are Harukanaru Toki no Naka de , Kin'iro no Corda and Tokimeki Memorial : Girl's Side . Well-known otome games that were officially released in German include Café 0 ~ The Drowned Mermaid ~ by ROSEVERTE and RE: Alistair by US developer sakevisual ; both translated by Marcel Weyers . In addition, more and more adaptations for mobile phones (iOS / Android) are being implemented in German.
