The Ottermeer is an artificially created lake in the East Frisian Wiesmoor , district of Aurich , Lower Saxony .

The Otter Sea has an area of ​​about 13 hectares and a length of about 770 m in north-south direction. The water is 2 m deep on average. The lake is surrounded by a rain moor landscape; accordingly the water is cloudy brown. There are pike , pikeperch and eel in the lake . At the southern end there is a small island.

The lake has a sandy beach on the north bank and is used as a bathing lake . You can surf on the lake . There is a boat harbor and rental of pedal boats and kayaks . Once a year there is a fun run around the lake. The body of water was created when peat was extracted in the 1970s. The executing company was Bohlen & Doyen. The original Ottermeer moor lake was located to the northwest in the area of ​​the moor puddles in today's protected landscape area. This area is no longer drained today.

At Easter 2001, adjacent to the lake to the north, the city of Wiesmoor opened a campsite of around 7 hectares .
