Otto Haberlandt

Otto Haberlandt (born May 8, 1922 in Wieda , Blankenburg district ; † May 14, 1990 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Haberlandt first attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship as a fitter. After his journeyman examination, he became a soldier in World War II . After his military service he was employed as a caretaker for the community administration in Wieda. He was already politically active in 1946. He was in municipal associations a. a. active at the Lower Saxony Community Day. In addition, he was a member of the supervisory board of the non-profit housing association Blankenburg in Braunlage and in the Osterode district he was a member of the association assembly of the savings bank association.

Haberlandt had been a member of the Wieda municipal council since 1948 and was elected mayor of Wieda between 1955 and 1972. From 1972 to 1986 he was mayor of the Walkenried municipality . Furthermore, Haberlandt belonged to the district council of the district of Blankenburg from 1952 to 1972 . Between 1955 and 1968 he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD. Between 1968 and 1972 he was district administrator and from 1972 to 1990 was a member of the district council of the district of Osterode . Here he had been the district administrator since 1986.

Furthermore, Haberlandt was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from June 21, 1974 to June 20, 1978 in the eighth electoral term .

Honors

Haberlandt is the holder of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Part of the main street in Wieda is named Otto-Haberlandt-Straße after him.
