Otto II von Anhalt († 1315/1316) was regent of the principality of Anhalt-Aschersleben from 1304 to 1315/1316 and resided mainly in Aschersleben .

Life

Otto II. Was the only son of Prince Otto I of Anhalt and Heilwig of Silesia, daughter of Duke Heinrich III.

He supported the returning Wettins in 1307 , worked closely with his cousin Waldemar Margrave of Brandenburg for years , fell away from him and became a vassal of the Danish King Erik VI in 1315 .

With the death of Otto II, the Aschersleben line died out in the male line. The princely title passed to Bernhard II von Anhalt-Bernburg . Since Otto II was in debt to the Diocese of Halberstadt , the Halberstadt Bishop Albrecht I , a brother of the Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg , withdrew most of the Aschersleben inheritance as a settled fief in favor of the Diocese and enfeoffed his brother Bernhard in December 1316 II. This recognized the feudal sovereignty of the bishop.

As a result, the Aschersleben legacy was the subject of disputes between the Anhalt dynasty and the Halberstadt bishops , which in 1333 was finally decided in favor of the Halberstadt bishops.

Marriage and offspring

Otto was married to Elisabeth von Meißen (1264–1332), daughter of Margrave Albrecht von Meißen .

The following children were born out of the marriage:
