Otto II of Wettin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otto von Wettin († July 17, 1368 ) (also Otto von Leisnig ) was Bishop of Minden as Otto II from 1366 until his death in 1368 .

Life

Otto comes from the castle counts noble family Leisnig and is therefore sometimes called Otto von Leisnig. In Minden he is known as Otto II von Wettin . He belonged to the circle of advisers to Emperor Karl IV. He was cathedral dean in Mainz and cathedral cantor in Worms . He was probably appointed Bishop of Minden as early as 1366, but did not move into Minden until June 7, 1368 and died on July 17, 1368. Therefore, his term of office was probably of no great importance for the diocese. He was buried in the St. Pauli monastery in Minden .
