Otto Lindblad (born March 31, 1809 in Karlstorp ; † January 26, 1864 in Mellby ) was a Swedish composer.

Life

Lindblad attended high school in Växjö and studied in Lund from 1829 to 1836 . From 1836 to 1838 he was a violinist in the orchestra of a theater group. He settled in Lund in 1838, where he founded the university choir, which became one of Sweden's leading choirs. From 1847 he was organist in Mellby .

He composed more than one hundred vocal works, including over sixty quartets, fourteen trios, three duets, more than thirty solo songs and five choral works with soloists, as well as several works for piano. He also wrote the Swedish royal anthem Ur svenska hjärtans djup en gång based on a text by Carl Vilhelm August Strandberg . He also wrote an autobiography.
