Ottomar Borwitzky

Ottomar Borwitzky (born March 18, 1890 in Hamburg , † 1974 ) was a German musician .

Life

He was born in Hamburg and is known as one of the members of the Hamburg trio , which included the cellist Paul Barth and his wife, the pianist Elly Barth . Together they went on extensive concert tours in Germany and to Bulgaria, Romania and Scandinavia.

In 1954 Ottomar Borwitzky became the first cellist with the Hamburg Philharmonic. Most recently he was concertmaster of the Philharmonic State Orchestra.
