Oude stadhuis

The Oude Stadhuis ( German  Altes Rathaus ) of the city The Hague was from 1561 to 1565 on the model of the city hall of Antwerp built and is considered one of the most important buildings of the Renaissance in the northern Netherlands .

In the years 1733 to 1739 there was an extension in the Louis XIV style according to the plans of the architects Daniel Marot (1661–1752) and JB Xaverij . In 1883 the town hall was again considerably enlarged. Later it was decided to build a new town hall that could meet the needs of the ever-expanding city.

The rooms are used, among other things, for weddings . In 1937 Juliana and Bernhard zur Lippe-Biesterfeld married in the Oude Stadhuis . In 1967 Margriet von Oranien-Nassau and Pieter van Vollenhoven followed .
