Dies Ougarta Mountains ( Arabic سلاسل الوقارتة, French Chaînes d'Ougarta ) are a mountainous country in the Sahara - Béni Abbès province of southwestern Algeria , named after the Ougarta oasis , which belongs to the Béni Abbès commune and is located on the eastern rise of the mountains.

The mountainous area extends from northwest to southeast over a length of around 250 km with a width of up to 50 km between the dune areas of the western Great Erg in the east and Erg Er Raoui in the west. In the north, the rock desert Hammada du Guir connects .

The Ougarta Mountains culminate in the extreme northwest in the Jbel Bet Touaris ( 925  m ). In the southeast, where the mountains run out in two parallel mountain ranges between the valley of the Oued Saoura and the drainless basin of the Sebkha el Melah , they are only about 6 km wide and reach a height of a good 500 m.
