Our Lady of the Rosary Church (also: Catholic Church of Our Lady of the Rosary ) is a Catholic church in Koinawa in the east of the Abaiang Atoll , in the north of the Gilbert Islands in Kiribati .
history
The church was built in 1907 when the territory was a protectorate of the British Empire . However, the priest in charge came from Belgium . Today the parish belongs to the Diocese of Tarawa and Nauru ( Dioecesis Taravana et Nauruna ), which was founded in 1966 as the Diocese of Tarawa by Pope Paul VI. created by the bull Prophetarum voces .
