Ovid Technologies ( Ovid for short ) is a provider of bibliographic and full-text databases in the medical and academic fields. Ovid is headquartered in New York and is part of the Dutch publishing group Wolters Kluwer .

The company was founded in 1988 by Mark Nelson and his wife Dana Johnson, listed on NASDAQ in 1994 and acquired by Wolters Kluwer in 1998 for $ 200 million. In 2001, Kluwer took over the competing silver platter system and integrated it into Ovid Technologies' offering.

More than 300 specialist databases , 1200 electronic journals and 200 e-books are available for subscribing institutions such as universities, hospitals and libraries . The MEDLINE database was Ovid's main product for a long time, but is now freely accessible through PubMed . With the Ovid LinkSolver, Ovid offers a link resolver for OpenURL linking.
