Ovidiu Ioan Silaghi (born December 12, 1962 in Satu Mare , Satu Mare County ) is a Romanian politician . Silaghi is a member of the Partidul Național Liberal .

In the course of Romania's admission to the European Union , he was a member of the European Parliament from January 1 to April 2, 2007 , where he was a member of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe .

On April 5, 2007, like Adrian Cioroianu, he became Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Tourism and the Liberal Professions in the new cabinet of Prime Minister Tăriceanu . Cristian Silviu Buşoi and Horia-Victor Toma moved up for Cioroianu and Silaghi in the European Parliament. With the end of the Tăriceanu II cabinet , he resigned from the ministerial office on December 22, 2008.

From May 7 to December 21, 2012, Ovidiu Ioan Silaghi was Minister for Transport and Infrastructure in the Ponta I cabinet .

On September 4, 2013, Silaghi moved back to the European Parliament. Shortly before the end of the electoral term, he left on June 10, 2014.
