Owen John Jenkins is a British diplomat .

Career

In 1991, Jenkins joined the Foreign Service. He worked in British missions in Turkey , Argentina , Brussels (at the permanent mission to the European Union) and India . He dealt with topics from the Balkan Wars of the 1990s to climate change and economic issues . He later became Director of the UK Foreign Policy and Commonwealth Office (FCO), responsible for South Asia ( Afghanistan , Bhutan , Bangladesh , India, Maldives , Nepal and Pakistan ). Eventually, Jenkins became the British Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, with the task of promoting the Afghan peace process, counter-terrorism cooperation and bilateral relations.

On June 6, 2019, Jenkins was appointed British Ambassador to Jakarta , with responsibility for Indonesia , East Timor and ASEAN . Jenkins handed over his accreditation for East Timor on July 16, 2019.
