Moazzam Malik
Moazzam Tufail Malik CMG (* in London ) is a British diplomat .
Career
Moazzam graduated from the London School of Economics. He also holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford and a Diploma from ACCA .
Moazzam originally worked as an economist in the academic, private and non-profit sectors. From 2003 to 2005 he was Principal Private Secretary to Baroness Valerie Amos and then Advisor to Development Minister Hilary Benn .
In Pakistan and Iraq , Moazzam led projects for the UK Ministry of Development (DFID). In 2006 he co-wrote the white paper on development aid “Making Governance Work for the Poor”. From 2006 to 2010, Moazzam was DFID Director for the United Nations , Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs. This also included responsibility for aid after the 2004 tsunami and Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar in 2008. From 2013 Moazzam was the acting general director of the department for international development aid . He was a member of the Advisory Board to the British Bipartisan Parliamentary Group on Conflict and the Advisory Board to the UN Secretary-General for the Central Emergency Revolving Fund.
Moazzam was appointed British Ambassador to Jakarta in 2014 , with responsibility for Indonesia , East Timor and ASEAN . He held the office until 2019.

Moazzam is the first British ambassador of the Muslim faith to Indonesia. For his post in Jakarta, he learned the national language Bahasa Indonesia in five months . He is married to Rachel Malik and has a son and two daughters.
