Owen Luder
Owen Harold Luder , CBE (born August 7, 1928 in London , United Kingdom ) is a British architect who is attributed to the brutalism of architecture of the 1960s and 1970s.
Life
Luder was born in London to Edward Charles Luder and his wife Ellen Clara (née Mason). He was married twice and had five children.
Luder's buildings, which often took on the character of sculptures, were characterized by the raw, unclad outer skin of the concrete. In the rainy United Kingdom , characterized by humid winters , the structures of the buildings quickly turned gray-brown and streaked with rainwater.
Luder was honored by the award of the CBE and was Chairman of the Examination Chamber for Architects and President of the Royal Institute of British Architects .
In December 1963, Luder and his first wife, Rose Dorothy (née Broadstock), survived the fire and sinking of the Greek cruise ship Lakonia off Madeira as passengers , killing 128 people.
