Three Cliffs Bay (also called Oxwich Bay ) is located on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales , south of the village of Penmaen and southwest of Southgate, Wales .

Like most of the bathing beaches on Gower, Three Cliffs Bay has fine sand and a multitude of protective niches and tiny caves, which makes Three Cliffs a popular bathing spot. The bay can only be reached by footpaths. One begins opposite Penmaen Church. The other runs west from Southgate. This bay is enclosed in the east by the smaller Pobbles Bay and in the west by the cliff High Tor . The Pennard Pill flows into the bay , a small river that meanders through a wide valley west of Pennard .

Between the confluence of Pennard Bill and Oxwich lie the Penmaen Burrows and Nicholaston Burrows . The two areas have belonged to the National Trust since 1967 and are considered the Site of Special Scientific Interest . On the Penmaen Burrows ridge you can see the remains of the Stone Age grave Penmaen Burrows , a medieval ring wall and the ruins of a medieval church. The medieval village of Stedwarlango is probably buried under the adjacent dunes . Blood-red cranesbills , pyramidal dogwort and several species of lichen grow in the dunes of Nicholaston Burrows . When the tide is low, Three Cliffs and Pobbles Bay are a continuous beach, Oxwich can also be reached with dry feet, so that you can find a continuous beach from Southgate to Oxwich.
